Summary: form entries auto-fill - "Saved Forms" feature - (non-password) → remember and autofill/autocomplete form entries (like Safari)

Grr, return key. I really think bug 187454 is the better, more Mac-like solution for this (once we work out its issues). Randomly remembering stuff is just wacky.

I'm the original reporter of this enhancement request, i just wanted to clarify what we are talking about. It's for sure not pulling data from one's address book. It's remembering and auto-completing character strings in any form field, the way firefox does (not wacky). (more info and screenshot: ) http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=287387&highlight=fill Can someone clarify this feature's actual status? The target is shown here as 2.0, is that correct? Smokey's last comment makes it sound like it's being canned. Is it being worked on for 1.1 or 2.0 or not at all...? -- Thanks!
I'm open to the idea; it was my assessment that filling in from the abook was a much more requested feature than remembering form values. This feature is *much* more involved and would take a lot of work. If someone wants to step up and take this on, I wouldn't turn it down. Currently nobody is working on it, but that's doesn't imply it's being canned.

I think the implementation in the other bug is a great idea, and I think using some other data source (besides just the Address Book which, if feedback is any indication, is severely under-utilised on Mac OS X) is a good idea too. I'm gonna mark this as dependent on that one, since it seems like once that bug is fixed, adding a second data source shouldn't be too incredibly difficult, and the front-end behaviour ought to be shared. cl

Doesn't look like this will make 2.0 (unless a patch falls from the sky in the near future).

(In reply to Smokey Ardisson (back-ish; no bugmail - do not email) from comment #12) > http://blog.mindedsecurity.com/2011/10/autocompleteagain.html Firefox bug on that exploit is bug 381681.
Can someone clearly detail a use-case here? In 15+ years of daily Web use, I'm struggling to remember more than a handful of times I ran across forms that wouldn't be completely filled simply by pulling data from a) what is now the "Me" card in my Address Book (name, address, phone number, e-mail address) or b) my Keychain (usernames and passwords) I think the real solution here is to make it even more obvious, somehow, that people need to fill in the "Me" card in the Address Book. (Would it be totally non-kosher for us to offer to fill that in if a "Me" card isn't found or designated?)
