As we discussed, the file Save As dialog needs to start out in the directory you
last saved files in.

Reopening as bug 24625, "[RFE]Add MRU list for folders/directories to File Save
dialogs", which this report was made a DUP of, has been given a Target Milestone
of "Future", but remembering the last directory (only) is 4xp.
OTOH, quoting from bug 24625,

> I think 32014 is a dup of a bug that's already been fixed. I know I put in

... so this may no longer be an issue.

Hmm, it looks like this functionality actually needs to be in (and tested in)
the nsIFilePicker version of the save dialogs, so this will be blocked by
bug 36789, "File->Save should use nsIFilePicker instead of nsFileSpecWithUI",
nsbeta2+.
Brian, you've been in there recently for 3025... is there code in nsIFilePicker
to stash and recall the last directory saved to?
Depends on: 36789
The code isn't in nsIFilePicker, but nsIFilePicker *does* properly implement the
code that controls the initial directory it displays (nsIFileSpecWithUI used
nsIFileWidget, whose Linux implementation didn't implement that properly).
But, 36789 does block this. I have a fix for 36789.

This bug is poorly defined:
Does (or should) mozilla remember the last download directory across sessions?
Since there is no way for the user to set a default download directory (bug 7840
is over THREE YEARS OLD!!!), it would be useful if mozilla would remember the
the last dir *across session*. This seems a terrible oversight by persons not
familiar with windows.
Suggest to reopen this bug to make it remember last downloaded-to directory
across sessions.

It should. It broke recently. Should be fixed soon; I've seen the fix in a
number of patches to very recent File Handling bugs. Please don't reopen this
bug, I think there are more than enough on this topic already.
