User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
When I close Firefox the process remains active in the Windows Task Manager. When I start Firefox again and additional instance of the process is added in Task Manager and remains after I close it. I've had no instances of Firefox open or visible, yet had as many as six running in the Task Manager.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Firefox
2.Close Firefox
3.open Task Manager and identify running Firefox process
Expected Results:
Open Firefox, close Firefox, no instance should be running in Task Manager

Reporter, can you try to run in safe-mode (without extensions) ? The problem is probably caused by an extension.
Sometimes, a plugin is the culprit, especially Java.
