Open firefox 2. Enter www.planetpdf.com/mainpage.asp?webpageid=1682&mp in the URL field 3. Press "enter" Actual Results: Browser crashes Expected Results: Display URL
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20060104 Firefox/1.5 I get "Operation not allowed" messages but no crash. Could you provide a talkback ID for the crash? In that case reinstall Firefox with Talkbalk (choose custom install; Quality Feedback Agent).
Firefox crashes without invoking the quality feedback agent. I have reinstalled Firefox and made sure that it is installed. Firefox also crashes using a newly created profile. I do not get the "Operation not allowed" messages you have mentioned.
Which Arobat Plugin version do you use and Do you also crash if you remove the acrobat plugin ?

Now, Talkback is invoked in about every second crash. My IDs are: TB13593775K, TB13593503Z, TB13593502G, TB13593232Q. I have Acrobat 6 Professional and Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 installed on my computer. The default plugin is Acrobat Reader 7.0.5. The PDF plugin files in C:\Programme\Mozilla Firefox\plugins are: nppdf32.DEU: ver 7.0.5.172 nppdf32.dll: ver 7.0.5.172 nppdf32.FRA: ver 6.0.0.878 If I remove these three files and start Firefox again, then about:plugins still lists "Adobe Acrobat" as an active plugin. Moreover I am able to view PDF files within Firefox. However, Firefox does still crash when trying to open http://www.planetpdf.com/mainpage.asp?webpageid=1682&mp. How can I deinstall the Acrobat plugin?

Still, Firefox shouldn't crash. I have informed Adobe about the problem.
Having disabled the Acrobat plugin scan in /greprefs/all.js by commenting out the line "pref("plugin.scan.Acrobat", "5.0");", I was able to disable it completely. Without the plugin the mentioned page loads without crashing Firefox. Firefox does also crash if the minimum version is raised to "7.0". This means that the Acrobat plugins with versions 6 or higher can crash Firefox if *BOTH* an "embed"-tag and an "objekt"-tag like the following is used: <embed src="crash.pdf"></embed> <object classid="clsid:ca8a9780-280d-11cf-a24d-444553540000"> <param name="src" value="crash.pdf" /> <embed src="crash.pdf"></embed> </object>
