Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Mail window set to have multiple folders displayed on left hand side, and the list of messages on the right. No pane displayed for the actual message. I am subscribed to several mailing lists, each of which is assigned to its own folder in the local folders. Incoming mail is checked successfully, and the junk filed in the junk folder on local folders. I set the client to view unread messages. When I click on each mailing list folder to list the messages from each mailing list, the messages are sorted, and the junk filters are rerun (why?) and (occasionally), valid messages are marked as junk, and moved to the junk folder. If I don't notice that the number of unread messages has dropped, then I lose the email (all junk is scrapped after 1 day) The junk filters should be run ONCE only, on the inbox. After that, there is no point. If Mozilla must run them again, then it should have the same result as if it were runnning on the inbox. This bug seems to have been reported back in 2003 (198961), but no action taken, hence my re-reporting it. I have observed this behaviour in the last several versions of the program. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. As described above 2. 3. Actual Results: Junk filters run mutiple times. Second time produces more junk than the first time. Expected Results: Junk filters run once, on the inbox.
The junk filter does not run at all on mails that get moved to other folders. So the junk filter runs when you select that folder with the new mails.
(In reply to comment #1) > The junk filter does not run at all on mails that get moved to other folders. > So the junk filter runs when you select that folder with the new mails. > So that explains why it's happening. BUT, if I have moved the email to another folder, that implies that I want to read it, and NOT under ANY circumstances, to junk it.

As a workaround put the From address of the newsletters in your personal address book and check the option to whitelist your PAB.
