User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060124 Firefox/1.5.0.1 Build Identifier: version 1.5 (20051201) I've selected "View all headers" while having only the main window and viewed all headers as expected. I then opened a stand-alone mail message window and it also showed all the headers, as expected. I then switched to "Vew Normal Headers" on the stand-alone message window and it worked, as expected. I then closed the stand-alone message window and noticed that the main window is still showing all headers. Picking the "View"->"Headers" I see that the NORMAL setting is selected, which was not consistant with what the main window was showing. I had to pick "View All Headers" again - the display didn't change since it already showed all headers - then "View Normal Headers" to reset the display in the main window back to "Noarm Headers". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select a message in the main window and have it displayed in the "preview pane" 2.Select "View All Headers", observe that all headers are displayed in the main window. 3.Open a stand-alone message window, observe that all headers display in it as well. 4. Select "View Normal Headers" in the stand-alone message window. Observe that only "Normal Headers" are displayed in the stand-alone, the main window still displays "All Headers" 5. Close the Stand-Alone message window. 6. Pick the "View Headers" menu item from the main window, notice that "Normal Headers" is set Actual Results: "Normal Headers" is set while the main window still shows "All Headers" Expected Results: Either: 1. Update main window display when the stand-alone window changes the "View Headers" setting. 2. Keep separate settings for each window and don't change the "View Haders" setting of the main window when it is changed in a stand-alone message window. Platform is RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 compiled locally. Using Thunderbird downloaded from mozilla.org No additional extensions or themes installed.

Sorry, modified wrong bug; that dependency is incorrect. I'm pretty sure there's another bug about this problem, but I can't locate it. I think the behavior for this ought to be more like the Brief headers mode: if you select Brief headers in a standalone, it remains in effect for standalone windows but doesn't affect the 3-pane at all, and vice-versa.

An additional effect of this: if you go to one of the windows whose envelope panel has not been updated to match the current setting, and Print or Save As File (text or HTML), the results show the headers according to the setting, not according to the displayed envelope. As always, my preferred solution is bug 346603.
