Looks fine to me. Please test in safe mode.
started firefox with -safe-mode switch, checked reset user preferences to default.
select and restart.
same behaviour
I didn't suggest that you reset your preferences. Please start firefox in safe mode, stay in safe mode and try visiting the website.
The preferences reset was to play even more safely
Opening the site in safe mode gives the same results

Grumpy, you forget that plenty of admins out there don't get pass...

Could you have something unusual with your font configuration?
Nothing I'm aware of, xp system fonts are the default ones.
I don't think it matters but the pc is an athlon64 with xp 2002 sp2 italian acer oem.
If there is any hint of something to set/dump/retrieve let me know.

Attached file testcase (deleted) —
This testcase provides three lines of garbage
If you remove the style the three lines are readable.
text is readable when changing "ms sans serif" into "microsoft sans serif" or "ms reference sans serif".
I can't tell why but "ms sans serif" is the poison, if I place a random word instead of it the text is readable probably using a default failback font
see also bug 311335, 94519, 324706
MS Sans Serif is a bitmap font but Microsoft Sans Serif is TrueType.
