I tried the same sequence with the latest Windows nightly build 2006-03-26 and observed different, but still flawed, behavior. When I right-click, the appropriate popup menu shows under Windows, BUT... the folder above is still apparently active. I'll upload a screenshot showing the result of right-clicking and "Open in a new tab". Note, the folder on the Places toolbar is still highlighted/depressed even though all actions have completed. Mousing over the folder, the sliding right, causes the next folder to drop down even though I haven't clicked on the toolbar at all.

That's a separate bug. This one works now, I believe.

Thank you, Ben. I can't test ATM because BeOS builds were broken by another commit within the last 24 hours. Once that's fixed, I'll update my tree, build, test and confirm here (or reopen if I still see the problem).

Weird. It's like the view is reporting the selection incorrectly. This does not happen on windows. Can anyone reproduce on linux or mac? (I don't have a beos machine)

It does look like it think it's on the bookmarks toolbar. Maybe widget-code for BeOS has some mess up to what window or view is active.

Possibly - but it worked as recently as 3/20. Something changed outside BeOS widgets.

note also, if I build with --disable_Places, the standard bookmarks toolbar works fine.

Fixed? I just updated my trunk and the problem appears to be fixed. I could just breathe a sigh of relief, but I'm really curious as to where the problem lay.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
