At installing or later when you create an account (POP3) it does not ask you to leave messages on server or not. By default when you press finish it downloads your messages. AND deletes them from the server! Is it a feature? It is not funny at all!
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a pop3 acc
2. press finish
3. you suck
Expected Results:
At least a checkbox (Leave messages on server) turned on.
A warn is not enoguh safe.
Or it could be possible to set preferences too.

Seamonkey bug 323579 -- this is really a core issue, I'll bet.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW

It's not a core issue in the sense that I would use it in. However Thunderbird and SeaMonkey have probably duplicated Mozilla's buggy UI code.

Actually, according to bug 270743, this is supposed to be fixed in TB 1.5 and Seamonkey 1.0.
"indexsuxx" (you couldn't find a more polite name?) which version of TB are you reporting this bug against?

I guess it's core only in the sense that we share the same code.
The reporter wants some UI here that lets the account wizard specify whether messages are to be left on server (and I agree with him, but people get unhappy when I add stuff to the wizard :-) ). The work around is not to download messages after account setup, but to rather go turn on leave on server from account settings, and then download messages.

The wizard already has UI to control the immediate action, which was recently fixed in bug 270743. I just tested this and it works as expected for me.
Reporter opened bug 332696 requesting either Wizard UI to set the option permanently (an existing bug), or have the option set by default (also an existing bug).
Profile manager deletes entire thunderbird profile folder (not just mail and profile files) together with your stuff you put in later or before.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Profile ‘create new account’
2. ‘Choose folder’
3. Chose ‘My Documents’
4. Delete profile
Result: entire My Documents Folder deleted with not a trace in Recycle Bin!
Solution: ‘choose’ folder for new thunderbird profile folder only to use it for this profile and nothing else
Recommendations for developers.
Rename option ‘delete files’ to delete <name> mail folder. Because this is what it does.

QA Contact: preferences → account-manager
As for comment 6, Denis, that is completely another thing. this is about leave/del msg on server on account setup..
That is bug 18927 where profile deletion recycle/recovery is discussed.
