Using a trunk Firefox nightly (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060407 Firefox/3.0a1) the GIF image that the SVG document of the test case
<http://home.arcor.de/martin.honnen/mozillaBugs/SVG/gifImage1.svg>
links to with image xlink:href is not rendered at all. I have seen the same problem with older trunk nightlies as well.

Test case renders the GIF image fine with IE 6 and Adobe SVG viewer 3.0 and with Firefox 1.5.0.1 so this is a serious regression on the trunk.

Works for me.
Doesn't work for me on winxp.

Works in 2006-01-18 trunk build, fails in current trunk build.
Needs a smaller regression range.

With Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060422 Minefield/3.0a1 the problem with the GIF not being rendered at all has vanished in as far as the GIF image is rendered again. Colors are wrong however but there is a bug on that, bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=335085.
So this could be resolved fixed or worksforme (now) but I am unsure whether to do that as I have no clue on what happened in the code.
Jonathan, maybe you can better decide whether this can be resolved fixed.
In cairo trunk this is fixed now (also the colors) but in non-cairo it is a mirror image.
blocking1.9- since it sounds like it's not really a problem anymore, or won't be once everybody switches to cairo.

As originally reported this is no longer an issue, so closing. Additionally, note that SVG will no longer be supported in non-cairo builds once the patch from bug 354866 is checked in, so comment 6 isn't an issue either.
