CVS aging rapidly. This has been brought up man times before on mailing list. The natural progressing off of CVS is subversion. Other rumors have been floated about some other source control solutions but I believe we need to stick with something extremely simple for a migration, tried and tested for mass installation, and something that the same ssh keys we use to update the CVS can be used on.
A great example of SVN in action is the Mono project, KDE, and Source Forges current movement and migration to SVN from CVS. CVS was the defacto standard, and Subversion is the evolution.
In the spirt of Mozilla, one of SVN's main techniques for pull repositories is using a form of webdav, an http based protocol. It's extremely easy to mirror and its can be cached by squid in most cases. Extensions with mod_mem_cache in apache 2.2 extend its scalability server thousands of more people on the same hardware.
Even if SVN isn't decided on, the CVS need to go, and I think this needs to be decided so we can get to work on fixing the build scripts and web-tools and begin the migration effort.
Reproducible: Always
