Implement a commmand, with which I can query the mozilla.org server for
information about a user.
To be ultra-convient, the server should know the usual IRC nickname of Mozilla
community members, so I can automate queries (add a command to my context menu,
auto-query on channel entrance of people I don't know or so).
mozilla.org's LDAP server will store a nickname, but it may not be identical to
my IRC nickname, although it propably will be in most cases. Dunno, if we should
create a new field "irc_nick".

Taking this bug. I'll be doing most of the LDAP-related tools work.

Are you also doing the server?

I'll be doing a bunch of the work on the architecture, at least. Once I get
further along, you and I should probably sit down and figure out the best way to
proceed with it. I'll let you know once I get to the point of thinking about
schemas and namespace, etc. That's still a little ways off, as I'm worrying
about some interface concerns first.

Ok. I was just wondering because this is one of the next few week's main
projects on my list and how should we best make things work out. It seems that
we won't get this integrated into Netscape's internal LDAP soon so we have
freedom on choosing schemas and design ourselves. But let's get together
sometimes to see what should be done.

Once the backend exists, feel free to reassign this to me with some pointers
so that I can create the mozbot2 module to do this.

Reassigning, as I'm switching groups to work on browser integration of LDAP
full-time.

dawn: If you have no intention of ever implementing this, feel free to reassign
it to me.

I plan to do this after Mach V ships, so reassigning to dmose@mozilla.org would
also be ok. However, if you (Hixie) wanna start hacking on this sooner, go nuts!

No, no, I wouldn't want to take all the fun away... :-)
Feel free to ask me any questions you might have about the mozbot API.

Assigning bugs that I'm not actively working on back to nobody; use SearchForThis as a search term if you want to delete all related bugmail at once.
