User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060406 Firefox/1.5.0.4 (Debian-1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.4-1) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060406 Firefox/1.5.0.4 (Debian-1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.4-1) Click on the link and it seems to think it is a JPEG image. Why doesn't it just show it? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open http://svn.natalian.org/projects/svn/compare-diff.jpg 2. 3. Actual Results: Unknown file format helper comes up. Expected Results: Image to be displayed inline. This happens on Opera9.
Here are the HTTP headers: http://svn.natalian.org/projects/svn/compare-diff.jpg GET /projects/svn/compare-diff.jpg HTTP/1.1 Host: svn.natalian.org User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1a3) Gecko/20060706 BonEcho/2.0a3 Accept: text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5 Accept-Language: us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 300 Connection: keep-alive If-None-Match: "2040//projects/svn/compare-diff.jpg" HTTP/1.x 200 OK Date: Mon, 10 Jul 2006 09:21:45 GMT Server: Apache/2.0.54 (Unix) PHP/4.4.2 mod_ssl/2.0.54 OpenSSL/0.9.7e mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 DAV/2 SVN/1.1.4 Etag: "2040//projects/svn/compare-diff.jpg" Accept-Ranges: bytes Content-Length: 267041 Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=99 Connection: Keep-Alive Content-Type: application/octet-stream ---------------------------------------------------------- The last line is the important one - your server is saying that the file is an application and not an image. Firefox follows these Content-Types much more closely than IE or Opera does. So you need to fix/complain-about the server configuration.

Have you heard of "Being liberal about what you receive"?. Or perhaps that the content type is dead? http://ln.hixie.ch/?start=1144794177&count=1 Are you telling me your would rather ask a user what to do when opening a "JPEG" file?
