Attempting to style a checkbox value, ie input[type="boolean"] .xf-value, has no effect. After seaching XBL for input control, ie input-xhtml.xml, I see that there is no class attr on the input control.
I see why no reason this was ommited.

Note xul analogue has the same problem (see http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/extensions/xforms/resources/content/input-xul.xml#127)

This only does xhtml XBL, do the analogous control in XUL need to be updated?
