This request was in bug 342900 (The one about the All Tabs Button), Comment #57. Could the tab be scrolled into view as long as that doesn't hide the opening tab? Like: A < B C D E F G H > I We have the tabs A-H, where A is not visible (left outside). We open a new tab from H or E, I. At the moment it's hidden, but will show the flashing in orange (color is not used anywhere else?). It would make sense to scroll a little bit to the right to make the new tab visible. *Except* if that would scroll the calling tab out of view. BTW: If a link is opened from the OS and Firefox is set to open in a new tab, it *is* scrolled into view.
you'll want UI review from beltzner/mconnor/ben on this.
Summary: Scroll new tab into view → Scroll new background tab into view as long as it doesn't hide the active tab
IMO this is quite important; I've noticed it several times in my own browsing over the last couple of days (argh! I've opened a new tab, now I can't get at it!) It was actually quite frustrating especially when using the browser for work purposes. (I don't have anything else to add - just commenting to help 'confirm' the bug as a genuine UI problem.)
Could this possibly make Firefox 3?
To get it on the radar you need to nominate it by selecting the "?" next to blocking Firefox and provide a very compelling reason why it is needed. (In reply to comment #3) > Could this possibly make Firefox 3? >
