I have a case that's even worse (though I guess it's a little pathological); when a bug in my X server starts me at 58x160 DPI, my desktop looks oddly proportioned but essentially correct, with the exception of the Firefox tabs. The text in each tab protrudes several pixels above and below the limits of the tab outline. I can include a screenshot if you like.
This is with version 2.0.0.12-2 of Iceweasel from Debian sid.
Cheers!
