User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 The browser crashes after opening a page with an iPIX image, which is a 360 panorama. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Opening the link ; 2. Select one of the areas (if it hasn't crashed yet) ; 3. You can see the panorama, but the browser freezes. Actual Results: I can't open a new website, or just use the browser. Even after closing it, I have to kill the processus to be able to re-start Firefox. Expected Results: We should be able to see the iPIX image included in the website without any trouble, as it happens - I don't like to say that - with IE. You can see the normal behaviour by opening the link with the IE tab extension for example.

You are right : I had the Update 6 instead of the 8. Thank you! But the problem is still the same: go to http://www.tees.ac.uk/sections/common/CampusTour.cfm?AreaID=0&locationID=0&VideoNum=2 and select an iPIX Image in the "Choose an area" section.

Every Java test is working, telling me Java is enabled and my version is 1.5.0_08. Java is working on every site, except for iPIX images. I always have the same crash - as on http://www.ipix.com/ I found iPIX plugins at http://www.ipix.com/download/manual.html , I pasted the dlls in the Firefox plugins directory (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins), but the problem is still there. After the Java loading logo, I can see the iPIX and move into but the browser has crashed. I can't create a Talkback account - only somebody already registered can create one. How do you get Java Console?
(In reply to comment #4) So your problem is Java is working, but iPIX images are crashing, as on http://www.ipix.com/ Please try another test: 1. close Firefox 2. rename the Firefox\Plugins to Firefox\NoPlugins 3. start Firefox, load about:plugin to refresh compreg.dat 4. check the image at http://www.ipix.com, should run without plugins. 5. close Firefox 6. rename the Firefox\NoPlugins to Firefox\Plugins 7. remove NpIpx32.dll and AppSub32.dll from Firefox\Plugins 8. start Firefox, load about:plugin to refresh compreg.dat 9. check the image at http://www.ipix.com, should run without plugins. > I found iPIX plugins at http://www.ipix.com/download/manual.html , I pasted > the dlls in the Firefox plugins directory (C:\Program Files\Mozilla > Firefox\plugins) Doing this, I twice horribly crashed on Seamonkey, including loss of bookmarks, and two times IPIX was working fine. I couldn't reproduce the bug on 1.5.0.7, a current 2.0 nightly, and your Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; fr; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 type about:plugins to see yours. I've got: Internet Pictures Corp. iPIX Plugin v6.2 File name: C:\PROGRAMME\MOZILLA.ORG\ZIPS\SEAMONKEY\plugins\NpIpx32.dll Netscape Plugin iPIX Viewer Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 Update 8 File name: C:\Programme\Java\jre1.5.0_08\bin\NPJava11.dll Java Plug-in 1.5.0_08 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper) and the other Java plugins... QuickTime Plug-in 6.5.1 File name: C:\Programme\QuickTime\Plugins\npqtplugin.dll The QuickTime Plugin allows you to view a wide variety of multimedia content in Web pages. For more information, visit the QuickTime Web site. and some more Quicktime plugins. I don't have Flash installed, no additional extensions at firefox, only LiveHTTPHeaders and NukeAnything installed on Seamonkey, that never was a problem. Quicktime, Java and my PDF-Viewer are installed or residing elsewhere, so my plugin directories are empty besides npnul32.dll. When I installed the french 1.5.0.7 I got nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt created in the plugins directory. In my zip nightlies this isn't included and won't be installed, as the zip builds aren't registered in the Windows registry. > I can't create a Talkback account - only somebody already registered can create one. You must do a customized install, and select 'Agent de rapport de Qualité', though in the Extensions menu it is called Talkback. You will find it in C:\Program Files\MozillaFirefox\extensions\talkback@mozilla.org You should see it in the Outils -> Extensions menu as 'Talkback 1.5.0.7' with an english underline: 'Submit a crash report to mozilla.org' After checking for an update, Mises à jour, this underline changes to french: Aucune mise à jour trouvée pour Talkback If you see it over there, Talkback should come up if you crash, ask multiple times for permission to report, give you the chance to add a comment or an URL, and will send the report when you finally tell so. If after some retries it can't connect, it will try next time you start the browser. It also can come up at start, if it didn't succeed to come up at crash, maybe because of lack of memory. > How do you get Java Console? Windows: Start->Settings->System Settings->Java The console comes up, open the most right tab, there should be the setting to enable/disable the start of the java console when Java starts.
Val, if you remove NpIpx32.dll and AppSub32.dll from your "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins" directory, do you still crash after loading an IPIX image?? When I load an IPIX image, it is perfectly working if I don't have the plugin, I can zoom and rotate as I want to, but it is horribly crashing if I got the plugin in the plugin folder. The plugin is about 6 years old, made for Netscape 6.2
I'm really sorry I only answer now... I couldn't before, due to personal problems. Since last time, I reformated my computer. I still have Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.7, but I have now the Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition 5.0 Update 9. Unfortunately I still have the same crash with iPIX images... In about:plugins, I have QuickTime Plug-in 7.1.3. I didn't re-installed the iPIX plugin. I tried without any plugins, and it acts the same way as with: I can actually see the picture, zoom and rotate, even if it's the only thing which loads in the page. But I can't use the browser anymore; I have to kill the processus and re-run Firefox. Unfortunately the Talkback extension doesn't seem to interpret my iPIX crash as an actual crash, because it doesn't come up at all. The Java console, when I open http://www.ipix.com/, tells me the following thing: "iPIX Java Viewer 4.0 (C) 1986 - 2003 Internet Pictures Corporation. All Rights Reserved. java.lang.NullPointerException at sun.font.FontDesignMetrics.stringWidth(Unknown Source) at IpixViewer.start(Unknown Source) at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Loading: http://www.ipix.com/images/radiocity.ipx" Then I close Firefox (but it doesn't actually close it, because the processus is still running and I have to kill it by myself). "java.lang.InterruptedException: sleep interrupted at java.lang.Thread.sleep(Native Method) at bb.run(Unknown Source)" I get the same exceptions by using IE.

Mass-closing bugs in the "OJI" component: OJI plugin integration was replaced with npruntime long ago, and these bugs appear to be irrelevant now. If there is in fact a real bug that remains, please file it new in the "Core" product, component "Plug-ins".
