When I startup thunderbird, I get 'mailbox full' warnings.
I have three distinct imap accounts. There is no way to tell
which mailbox is full. Would far prefer some sort of graphical indication
of quota status (turning the mailbox red or some such.)
When I click on Properties, for MS-Exchange, it says 'does not support quotas'
also for Nortel CallPilot imap server, it says 'does not support quotas'
third IMAP server is courier-imap, which responds 'there are no quotas' (which is true.)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Startup thunderbird with two imap accounts. One of which is full.
Actual Results:
popup dialog: 'Your mailbox is full. Delete messages you no longer require'
Expected Results:
popup dialog: 'Your mailbox xy@foobar.com is full. Delete messages you no longer require.'
Preferably, no popup at all...
merely turn xy@foobar.com red in the folders window. Have something int the
properties dialog, that understands that the warning has been received and
reflects it under Properties/Quotas regardless of the ability to communicate
with the server about quotas.
If I have three accounts, maybe one being full is not that big a deal. the dialog box is overkill.

I suspect these messages are coming from the server, not TB, and TB is displaying them, as it should (we have no idea what the messages are - the server tells us to display a message to the user, and we do so...). If that's what's going on, this is not a dup, really. Also, see bug 278096 for some work to show quota information down at the lower right hand corner of the 3-pane UI - it won't prevent these messages, but it might allow you to keep yourself pro actively under quota.

Hmm, yes it seem to be coming from the server. I don't know where in the code these generic(?) messages are received and displayed, but I assume we know from which server it came (at that point). Maybe include it in the dialog title? Or in the text like "Message from server <xxx.yyy.com>: ".

David, is this really not a duplicate of bug 309121/bug 66860?

Magnus, you're right; it's a dup of those general bugs.
