User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; pl; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 (20060909) PL After working with newsgroups for a while, the number of unread messages next to the newsgroup name in the left panel disappears for a large amount of newsgroups - and these are newsgroups I didn't read any messages from. The effect is shown on these pictures: http://www.ap.krakow.pl/~raj/tb_newsgroups_1a.png - just after connecting to the news server http://www.ap.krakow.pl/~raj/tb_newsgroups_2a.png - after a while; it is clearly visible that the numbers of unread messages have "disappeared" for many newsgroups http://www.ap.krakow.pl/~raj/tb_newsgroups_3.png - after clicking on one of these "empty" newsgroups; the number of unread messages re-appears More details are given in the section "Steps to reproduce". Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: I'm not sure what to do *exactly* to reproduce this bug, but it happens to me often, on both computers I use for newsgroups - one at home, and the other at work. 1. You must probably be subscribed to a large number of newsgroups to see this bug (I have 286 newsgroups in my subscription list). 2. Click on "+" near the newsgroups account name in the left panel to expand the newsgroups list. 3. After Thunderbird connects to the server and checks all newsgroups, you will see number of unread messages next to any newsgroup name that has unread messages (see picture #1). 4. Work with the newsgroups for a while; read some posts, reply to them etc. (here is the part where I don't know *exactly* what to do to reproduce the bug). After a while, you will notice that many newsgroups don't have this number next to the name anymore (picture #2); the look like read, although I didn't read a single message from any of these groups! 5. If you click on any of these "apparently read" newsgroups, the number of unread messages in that group appears again (but only in that group) - see picture #3. Actual Results: As described (numbers disappearing). Expected Results: The numbers should not disappear, as it was in the old version. On both computers I use Windows 98 SE, Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 PL with QuoteColors 0.2.7 and Mnenhy 0.7.4 extensions. Both computers were running Thunderbird 1.0 previously (the problem did not appear in the old version). On one of them I did an upgrade to 1.5.0.6, and then to 1.5.0.7 when that version appeared. The other computer had the OS completely restored from a partition image (after experimenting with various applications), without Firefox nor Thunderbird, and then a clean install of Thunderbird 1.5.0.6 (followed by an upgrade to 1.5.0.7) was performed - however, the profile directory with all the data files (email, etc.) has been kept from the old version.
