"To display this page, the information previously sent by <app> must be resent. This will repeat any action (such as a search or order submission) that had been performed earlier." 1. Replace brackets around "(such as a search or order submission)" to commas. Brackets should be used sparingly in everyday writing, and, thus, UIs. 2. Change "such as a search or order submission" to "such as a search or an order submission". I added "an" so that it doesn't read to be a search submission or an order submission. People think of them simply as searches, not search submissions. 3. Replace "that had been performed earlier" with "that you may have just performed". Earlier? When earlier? 15 minutes ago? I know most people could figure it out, but why be vague.
> 3. Replace "that had been performed earlier" with "that you may have just > performed". Earlier? When earlier? 15 minutes ago? I know most people could > figure it out, but why be vague. Vague is better than wrong. "Just performed" would be wrong most of the time.
I think the message should begin by stating that the page being reloaded was a response to data the browser sent to the server, then say that it can't be reloaded without resending the data. There should also be more options for the user to pick from than just "resend data" and "nevermind" - possibly "go back to[ward] form", "show data sent to server" (bug 295728), "perform GET on this URI" (bug 322984), "skip confirmations on this page" (bug 515223) ... This should block bug 160144.
