User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 I have an obvious bug with the way Session Restore interacts with MS Outlook. Part of the problem is already documented in Bug 342885. The other part appears to be some sort of bad parameter or pipe handling. I suppose there could be a problem in Outlook as well, but this needs to be checked out before making that assumption. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Firefox in Windows XP. 2. Logoff or Shut Down while Firefox is still running. 3. Login or Restart. Do not touch FF. 4. Open Outlook. 5. Click on your favorite email http link. Actual Results: "Firefox - Restore Previous Session" Followed By "Locate Link Browser Files of type: Executable Files (*.exe)" Session restore proceeds as normal if you click Start New Session and then Cancel the Link Browser. Expected Results: Firefox should open without the fuss. If Firefox had crashed, the Locate Link Browser dialog would still be unwanted. I believe this is specific to XP.

Sam, can you look at this? I'm wondering if there's a timeout in Outlook that gets hit if the browser doesn't open the link within a specific timeframe. I've hit this in other apps with various startup dialogs.

My guess is that this is due to Firefox accepting but not processing the DDE transaction while the Session Restore prompt is shown. This issue would be fixed by delaying the prompt until a later point (as suggested in bug 354894). Of course, finally fixing bug 333907 would prevent the Session Restore prompt in the first place...
