Some fixed bugs show a tendency to turn into a support forum for users of older versions. This is annoying to people who are interested in the bug but not interested in support work. It might be a good thing to have Bugzilla automatically point people to a support web page. My initial thought about this is to restrict adding comments to CLOSED bugs to editbugs members. (Maybe there are better criteria.) Non-editbugs members are shown a friendly page to consider looking at a certain web page instead (product-specific; for the Bugzilla product on b.m.o, this might point to http://www.bugzilla.org/support/). Copying comment from the dupe (though it's only a dupe in the sense of redirecting basic users from commenting): It seems like the vast majority of comments from random users (i.e. without editbugs) are either "still seeing X" + "please file a new bug" interactions or complaints about the resolution of a bug. I think it'd be more useful to lock resolved bugs to editbugs users, and have a "if you're still seeing this bug, please file a new report" bit in place of a comment field with a link to a prefilled bug report with the same metadata, and with some appropriate link back to the original bug (dependency or comment, either is fine, really, though we'd want to add a comment to the original if we used a comment). I'm sure this would have to be an option, but I think the benefits would be huge for steering users into filing a new report if something regresses/recurs.
