On the last occasion 73 tabs were opened. The only way to kill Firefox is to end the process from the task manager. Firefox then restarts and continues to create tabs. Again the process needs to be killed from the task manager. From this point it is fine. I have manages to recreate this on our Intranet after having it occur to me on an internet site (can't remember the site where it first occured). Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Navigate to a link which points to a Microsoft Word DOcument 2. Select Link 3. Actual Results: Multiple Tabs open Expected Results: Open the Microsoft Word Document in the browser

go to Tools>Options>Content>Filetypes>download actions and check that .doc has not an action "Open with Firefox", change that so it is opened with the correct application

That has solved the problem
