Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2 Build Identifier: version 2.0pre (20070316) Hello, IMHO, Thunderbird should use UTF-8 encoding *by default*, on all operating systems. Namely, in Windows version, in Tools -> Options -> Display -> Fonts: - the Character encoding should be Unicode (UTF-8) both for incoming and outgoing mail; - the "Apply the default character encoding to all incoming messages" should be cheked by default; - the "Use the default character encoding in replies" should be checked by default. Regards, Razvan Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In Windows version, check menu Tools -> Options -> Display -> Fonts Actual Results: The default encoding is Western. Expected Results: The default encoding should be UTF-8.
xref/dupe bug 224391. Unfortunately, webmail support for utf-8 messages is not very good.
