User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ru; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Build Identifier: Example 1. I compose my letter. Suddenly Thunderbird wants to save a draft for my letter. It sees that my letter has "non-unicode symbols". So my work is interruped by stupid dialog "Do you want your letter to be sent in UTF-8 or not?" It is bad for so many reasons. I need to stop thinking about my letter and start thinking about its encoding. And it's really look like Thunderbird wants to send my unfinished letter RIGHT NOW. I become frustrated because whatever I choose, my partial letter will be sent and I don't even know why. This is very confusing. It is just a draft! It should be just SAVED locally, not sent anywhere! Why should I worry about its encoding BEFORE sending? (I think my default is KOI8-R). Example 2. My mail account has digital certificate. Same situation: I compose my letter. Suddenly Thunderbird wants to save a draft for my letter. It asks me for my Master Password. It really looks like the unfinished letter will be sent right now. I don't want to send it now, and I click Cancel. After that I get a warning like "Thunderbird was unable to save your draft". Ah, so it's just wanted to save my draft? Great. I didn't understand it before. But should I enter my master-password? Anyway. Several minutes later. The same dialog: "Enter your master password" and then "Unable to save your draft". I don't want to be interrupted while composing letter. You should reorganize your draft saving feature. It should be easy and invisible non-intrusive for user. Or it should be removed at all. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install digital certificate for your mail (for example, try thawte.com). 2. Start new letter from this account. 3. Write the letter long enough to get draft saving warnings. Actual Results: Draft saving is confusing, boring and disturbing. Expected Results: Draft saving should be non-intrusive. My default mail encoding is KOI8-R. It is like a standard in Russia today. I know that UTF-8 is better, but, unfortunately there are some mail clients in XXI century that don't know about UTF-8. For example, "The Bat!".
