The reftest for bug 347912 fails when the reftest window is small-sized. This happened to the windows boxes today for reasons we really don't understand yet. I'm not sure yet whether the fault is with the test somehow, or whether the test harness is sizing the two pages differently. The difference is in the width of the testcases, which is off by the width of a scrollbar. The reftest window shouldn't be small -- it will cause many of the tests to not test what they're testing, since we don't render any area outside of the window. And, actually, the change I reviewed that Benjamin checked in earlier today should probably be backed out, since in any cases where it's required, the tests aren't actually being run completely.
Er, really window size isn't the issue, it's the size of the iframe and canvas, but I presume that's what you're talking about.

I'm not sure what I'm talking about, all I know is that the two differ by the width of a scrollbar. Should the reftest window itself be fixed-size, or should the iframes/canvas be fixed-size? I'm not convinced this has anything to do with the stringapi, rather than the manual clobber of the windows unit-test machines or something like that (especially since it hasn't shown up on the other platforms, nor on my local builds).
the iframe and canvas should both be 800*1000; it looks like they're getting some random size that's a good bit smaller than that. I think the reftest window is the same size as well.
When running at low resolution, the size of the reftest window is constrained to the size of the screen. This explicitly sizes the <browser> so that it is the expected size.

Shouldn't the <canvas> get the same treatment? In reftest.js the canvas is created at the size of the window, not the size of the <browser>.
It is not necessary to give the <canvas> any special treatment because the width/height attributes are set on it to determine its size.
