Attempt to enter text into the email address field at: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
Characters appear with ridiculous amounts of lag, sometimes at a rate of around one character a second.
Using Minefield on OS X, verified on two different machines.

On further investigation, it seems like the browser is slow when that site has focus. Even things like switching tabs, scrolling and opening the Find Bar are sluggish.
Also, the effect seems to be Mac-only.
Maybe there's a JS running there?

It is caused by the large background image(s), the same as bug 383747.
(and on a build with Cairo 1.4.8, it works fine).
