This may seem odd, but before this regressed it was very common for me to use both autoscroll and the middle mouse button scroll wheel at the same time. Since it changed I've found myself missing this "feature" a lot. I think this affects me because I often stop autoscroll by just moving the mouse back up to the "middle" position without actually closing it, and then don't realize I have it open when I go to scroll again (with the wheel this time).
This is probably related to bug 384683 - both are about passing events through.

This sounds similar to bug 319080, but this is marked as being a post-Firefox-2 regression while that one is marked as being a regression from Firefox 1.0 to Firefox 1.5. Bug 213496 suggests using IE's behavior (canceling autoscroll when the mousewheel is used.)
