at some point before release we should remove the code that migrates alpha-version databases to newer versions. i'm not sure about how long we should keep alpha -> beta migration. we should probably always keep support for beta -> release migrations.
Target Milestone: Firefox 3 M9 → Firefox 3 M10
morphing this to cover beta -> beta migration code as well.
Flags: blocking-firefox3?
Summary: remove all alpha-to-alpha migration code paths → remove all pre-release migration code paths before final
Target Milestone: Firefox 3 M10 → Firefox 3
Depends on: 398914
Priority: -- → P1
Flags: blocking-firefox3? → blocking-firefox3+
Priority: P1 → P3
in Bug 409945 we have added a temporary migration code to ExpireAnnotationsParanoid to migrate bogus pageAnnos to itemAnnos, that is needed to cleanup from beta3 to beta4, and could be removed befor final.
Depends on: 409945
Actually, this bug can only be fixed _after_ final, migration from each beta release (as opposed to alpha releases) should work.
in Bug 402161 we are adding a check to replace a bogus visit_count index
Depends on: 402161
Depends on: 404599
Priority: P3 → P4
Bug 419832 has a query to remove old livemark expiration from pageAnno (moved to itemAnno)
Depends on: 419832
Not blocking, far too late for changes of this type.
Flags: blocking-firefox3+ → blocking-firefox3-
Summary: remove all pre-release migration code paths before final → remove all pre-release migration code paths after 3.0 release
Target Milestone: Firefox 3 → ---
Presumably this bug can be closed now that all the dependencies have been resolved?
effectively we have moved much code into migration paths, and Shawn has removed most of the code containing the REMOVE ME AFTER 3.0 comment.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h". In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows: Tools | Message Filters Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New" Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h Change the action to "Delete Message". Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top. Click OK. Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter. Gerv
