Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.6 (20070728)
When receiving a .jpg email attachment on a Mac and choosing Save As, the .jpg is then not able to be opened. Both Preview and Photoshop report it as corrupt. This operation works fine on the Windows version of Thunderbird.
However, if I right click on the picture and select "Save Image" it works perfectly and the image is not does not get corrupted.
Note. file was a 1.9MB Jpeg
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select Save As (filename is automatic)
2. Open with Preview or Photoshop
3. Try same thing on PC
Actual Results:
Same result on two OSX machines.
Expected Results:
File should not have been corrupted

do you still see this problem on a newer 2.x release or a beta of 3.0?

Is this the same bug?
Windows Vista. Thunderbird version 16.0.1.
method:
right click on jpeg image attachment
choose Save As
Window opens, I choose the folder where to save
the 'filename' has automatically remove the extension, so attached image called IMG123.jpg is now called IMG123. The 'Save as Type' says 'All files' and this is the only option. When you click on Save, it saves to the designated folder, but looks like a txt type file icon. When I try to open, I'm asked 'choose the program you want to open this file'.
If I 'Save as' and reinsert the .jpg so that it says 'IMG123.jpg then there is no issue.
This particular problem started immediately after upgrading from 15.0.1 to 16.0.1.
