I noticed that the Context Menu Spec states that a Ctrl+Click is used to access
context menus on the Mac. Several bugs (i.e. bug# 18726, marked M20)have
asked that the option to Hold the mouse down for about 1-2 seconds for the
context menus to appear. This was the behavior in previous Netscape versions.
Should this behavior be added to the spec? In the meantime I'll have to test
only the Ctrl+Click behavior.

My guess is that this shouldn't be added to the spec since we don't have any
plans at the moment to implement this any time soon. Maybe someone else can
confirm this?

Actually, I think we should add this to the spec. It's a simple behavior change
that'll save a lot of hassle for a lot of people with one button mice.
Targetting M18.

since this feature isn't gonna make it for 6.0....*shrug*

This counts as a *feature*?!? I would have put it in the minor behavioral
change category...

Brendan, this bug is about whether the behavior should be included in the spec,
not about how soon bug 18726 should actually be fixed. If you want bug 18726 to
be fixed sooner (and it really should be), go and make noises over there.
Where is this spec, anyhow? I searched the mozilla.org site but couldn't find it.
Yes this is desirable. Will add to spec shortly. Assingning to Pinkerton: Mike
can elaborate a bit why this will not make it into NS6? If so are the other menu
buttons on toolbars also effected (like back forward where we wanted to have a
timeout as an additional means to evoke the drop menu). Please re-assign back to
me as reminder to add to spec later.

it was never added because it was decided that we weren't going to do it. No
other mac app behaves that way.

Really? IE 5? Outlook Expr 5?
Do you know whether this means we cannot have timeout behavior for controls in
general (like for menu buttons) or does this only apply to context menus?

Yes please add this. I would be greatly appreciated. I only have a one button
mouse, and I like holding down to activate menus

Chaning the qa contact on these bugs to me. MPT will be moving to the
owner of this component shortly. I would like to thank him for all his hard
work as he moves roles in mozilla.org...Yada, Yada, Yada...

This should be duped to 18726, since great work is already being done.
