Following bug #166254 (whose patch originally included this feature but I was told by bienvenu to move it to another bug), users should be able not just to view the Received date in a column, but to sort threads by it as well. The mailnews.use_received_date boolean pref will be used to indicate whether to use the Received date or stick with the current behavour (use Date).

Note: it might also be a good idea to fix the problem mentioned in bug #369620 with the patch to this bug. Default sorting by Order Received is not good.

Why do you ask me and not Jez if the feature has been (sufficiently) implemented? The mailnews.use_received_date preference doesn't exist in 31.x. On the other hand, View > Sort By > Received and Order Received are available.

I'm closing this WFM - the "Received" column can be added to the message list, shows the respective date, and can be selected for sorting. Thus, it appears that the purpose of this bug is satisfied.
