I have no idea what might be happening behind the scenes as this problem continues to live in Thunderbird The fact that this occurs and that Thunderbird is so sloooow (as noted above) causes me concern that the CPU is doing something - unknown - FYI: I DO NOT see outgoing traffic while this slowness is apparent in the user interface interaction BUT: I have NOT viewed all outgoing traffic at other times during operation to make sure that Thunderbird is not sending mail (improperly, etc)

Deleting the Junk.msf should get rid of it.
