The "contenteditable" attribute does not make things editable in XHTML. I believe this is a serious bug because:
1. This makes it very difficult to create simple testcases for bugs that involve both contenteditable and things that cannot be included in text/html markup, such as SVG, MathML, XUL, XBL, and improperly nested HTML elements.
2. This violates the HTML5 spec, because the spec covers XHTML (in addition to HTML) and requires support for the contenteditable attribute.

Probably related to bug 320092.

FWIW, the testcase crashes Opera9 and IE7, but works in Safari-on-Windows.

The patch for bug 207531 (from 3 years ago!) fixes this. It's already r=daniel@glazman.org, but it's still waiting on a sr+ from timless. I recommend someone else sr+ it, and we check that in.

This bug is a duplicate of 207531, which has a patch waiting for sr.
