Near the top of www.maximumlinux.com there are a series of link, ie, pictures of
hands holding various items. When you place the mouse pointer over the hand it
should cause the hand to move up holding an item. All of the links work as they
should except for the second one named views. When using mozilla M15 and placing
the pointer over views a grey box replaces the graphic image. Normally I would
believe this is the fault of the web site, but the animation works with all of
my other browsers.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.goto www.maximumlinux.com and let page completely load.
2.move the mouse pointer over the image of the hand that says views
3.
Actual Results: Instead of the hand moving up/out, a grey box w/ the correct
hyperlink replaces the graphic image.
Expected Results: Should have caused the image of the hand to move up and
through the loop surrounding it.

OK, I see this too on win32 2000053108. Now, the bug is not in the mouseover
effects, but in this image:
http://www.maximumlinux.com/images/nav/nav_homepage_views_f2.gif
Trying to view it makes the alt text show. This works fine in ns 4.7.
--> imagelib at first guess. Confirming bug as well as chaning summary to
reflect the found problem.

Looks like some of the ads aren't showing up too:

which might be related to 'views' images not showing up.
I can view the individual image(s) fine:
http://www.maximumlinux.com/images/nav/nav_homepage_views.gif
http://www.maximumlinux.com/images/nav/nav_homepage_views_f2.gif
BTW, like the nav bar images alot. Very nice.

200060108, I can view the image now without the alt text showing. I could have
sworn yesterdays was showing the ALT text..maybe cache related.
Changed summary to reflect bug.
Note to self: Simplified test url:
jazz/users/pnunn/publish/maxlinux2.html
May have to do with resolving the url to the
correct directory.

Summary: loading image causes alt text to show, even if it exists → problem loading an image via js
I only see the problem with loading the mouseover image
nav_homepage_views_f2.gif, the image second from the left.
All of the other images do load and animate properly.
The problem occurs on nav_homepage_views_f2.gif because it is
an animated image. Animated images are not stored in the image
cache but preloaded js images are retrieved from the image cache.
If the image is cut down to one frame, it functions as the other
image mouse overs.
I need to think about the best way to handle the problem.
I've updated the summary to reflect the cause of the bug.
See jazz/users/pnunn/publish/maxlinux2.html for a simplified demo
url.

it seems to work on win98 2000092205, even though the images are not cached but
loaded each time on mouseover.
