The tag checkbox list in tag editor is too small. Make it larger or auto-sized and/or resizable.

1. Use a lot of different tags.
2. Become fed up of typing the tags when using the Tag Editor in the starring/tagging UI, and try using the checkboxes.

Actual results:
The list is long, and the dialog is small. Thus you have to scroll. It’s something like 28 pages to scroll in my case, so the list is almost useless.

I'd prefer to see the checkboxes go away altogether, in favor of something more Fitt's law friendly.
Even if the upcoming Tag Editor will be ready for Firefox 3 the situation is still the same. If you have hundreds of tags entered meanwhile the current size is to small. It should be dynamically enhanced depending on the amount of tags.

Not going to block on this; the right solution is to get an autocomplete style widget in there.

We just might get tag AC, via bug 415960.

But this bug is about improving the tag selection UI, not the tag editor (or are you saying we should get rid of tag selection if we get AC in the editor?)

IMO, we should keep it, but make either the whole tag a clickable hotspot for the checkbox (awkward, i know), or do something like make each tag button-ish, with a distinct depressed state for selected tags.

At least on windows that is how a list of checkboxes is supposed to function. For instance in windows explorer if you go to folder options you can play with the control on the view tab. I think using that behavior on all platforms is fine.
Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".

In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.

Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
