Does it also happen if you start Firefox with a new profile?

This is due to the site using images set via CSS. http://wwww.mozilla.com currently works as an example.
OS: Windows XP → All
Hardware: PC → All
if you go to igoogle, it ignores ALL theme images etc. I think it ignores all background images on web pages.
A little further investigation: If you do the settings as described and then go to a page that shows image as DIV background, the image does not show up. Here is a URL for you to test:
http://www.shaadi.com/ssi/view-multiple-photo.php?profileid=sakshighei&photo=sakshighei-eed877.jpg&album_photo1_status=Y&album_photo2_status=Y
The code inside page looks like this:
<div style="width: 400px; height: 500px; background: url('http://img.shaadi.com/photos_large/s/sakshighei-eed877.jpg') no-repeat center center;"><br></div>
I tried to figure out how igoogle themes work but that code is way too complicated.

I just noticed this problem using Firefox 3.0.7 on CentOS 5.2, on a 64-bit machine. This problem does _not_ exist with Firefox 3.0.7 on CentOS 4.2 on a 32-bit machine, nor does it exist with Firefox 2.0.0.x on either machine.
Facebook.com is a good example: the blue background image behind the main logo at the top just doesn't show up at all with FF 3.0.7, CentOS 5.2 (64-bit).
I'd be happy to provide traces or anything else to help figure this problem out, because it's debilitating for me - I have to either downgrade to FF 2.x or go back to CentOS 4.2. If you need any trace output, please let me know what commands to run and what you want to see.
I would love to see this fixed ASAP if at all possible!

I forgot to note that running in Safe Mode does _not_ fix the problem.
Just to help you guys out, I found a temporary solution. There is a Firefox plugin called ToggleUseDocColors and it lets you enable/disable color settings with a keypress.
I installed this plugin, keep my background to "use my background" and whenever I need to see images, I press a key, see what I need to see and then change it back again. This option helped me save my eyes

I should have updated this a long time ago but I think it may have something to do with PNGs that have alpha channels, especially when they are set as background images. I noticed that this problem appeared only with background images that were alpha-channel PNGs.
However... the problem went away when I updated my nvidia video card driver (on 64-bit CentOS 5.2). Apparently Firefox (or X windows, not sure which) was sending the display commands for these alpha-channel PNG backgrounds through the video card; the default 'nv' driver couldn't process them. When I updated to the latest 'nvidia' driver, everything displayed just fine.
This may not be a Firefox bug; it may very well be an OS or video card driver bug.

If this was a driver bug, this would happen even if image was foreground. Since this only happens when image is background, I think this is firefox bug.

I suppose that's possible, but considering it went away when I updated the driver, I'm pretty darn certain that the driver has _something_ to do with it. Perhaps Firefox uses different rendering mechanisms for foreground versus background PNGs with alpha channels?
Or, maybe I didn't notice that foreground PNGs were also not displaying properly... not sure. I'm not reverting to the old driver! =)

Kevin, why are you considering this a duplicate of bug 306625? When I experienced this issue, I didn't have (nor have ever had) "Always use my colors" enabled... in my case, it appeared to be directly related to the nvidia driver.

Sorry about this, this should not have been resolved unless the bug was not reproducible anymore.
There is a duplicate, which is cleaner: bug 892265.
