probably want to add a variation on third party blocking, "send all cookies but accept only from originating site", and make it the default setting. see bug 421494 comment 12 and bug 421494 comment 20.

The box for "Accept third-party cookies" in the options should remember it's ticked/unticked state. It doesn't. STR:
1. Untick box for "Accept third-party cookies" when the box for "Accept cookies from sites" is ticked, knowing you never ever want this enabled again.
2. Untick just the "Accept cookies from sites" box, because you know about the workaround redirected first-party cookies tracking used by advertisers.
3. Encounter a site that insists on cookies being enabled, so tick the "Accept cookies from sites" box, expecting to see "Accept third-party cookies" remain unticked.
Result: "Accept third-party cookies" box is automatically ticked again! Totally unacceptable.

See bug 419596 comment 18 (the first version of the patch in bug 419596 tried to remember the state).
