I tried to install several weather reporters that work with Firefox, WeatherBug, was the one I worked on for a few hours today, but it would not install in Firefox 2.  I tried another one too, a Fox Weather one, but it to would not install.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Kubuntu 8.04 Firefox 2.0.0.14
2.Tried to install WeatherBug
3.Install fails every time.
Actual Results:  
same as above

Expected Results:  
1.Start Firefox
2.Install Add-ons
3. Install succeeds
4. Use Add-ons.

FWIW, it's installed fine and works on firefox 3 trunk, mac build.

Please attach the extensions.rdf, extensions.cache and extensions.ini files from your profile to this report.

It would not let me attach it as extensions.cache so I copied and pasted it to an Open Office .odt format.

You don't need to open the files to attach them. Please just attach the file directly using the attachment form and specify a type of text/plain for the cache file. I cannot read this as it is.

There is no extensions.ini file for Firefox 2.0.0.14 in my system.  I attached one for Thunderbird, but there is none for Firefox.

Ok the extensions.ini isn't useful then, can I assume the other files are all from Firefox which is the only place you are seeing the problem?

Yes, all the other files are from Firefox, which is the only place I am seeing the problem.  Thanks for your help.  If you need any more information, then do not hesitate to ask, and I will remember to only send plain text next time.

Ok this is an issue with Ubuntu's modifications to Firefox causing confusion that is already fixed in Firefox 3. If you remove the extensions.rdf and extensions.cache files then it will clear it up for you for now.

Thanks Dave & Company for your help.  I am trying it now.  If Firefox 3 Beta 5 wasn't so buggy, and was able to delete history in the url location bar then I would still be using it.  It is also a duplicate bug, so I didn't bother reporting it.  Thanks again.
