User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008051206 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-rc.html On Mac 10.4 and 10.5, youtube pause/play and volume controls do not work after installing Firefox 3 release candidate. The issue is that the YouTube flash app is receiving events from (0-374) in the Y dimension in FireFox 3RC, but is receiving events from (0-394) in the Y dimension in FireFox 2 PR & Safari 3.1.1(5525.18). Events are not being received by the flash app in the (375-394) Y dimension on FF 3RC for some reason. Seems likely a FireFox bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install Firefox 3 release candidate from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-rc.html 2. go to youtube and play any video 3. try to play/pause video or reduce volume Actual Results: the buttons don't work normally. if you keep hovering across the button, sometime it gets activated. Expected Results: buttons should work properly reason for the issue given in the details section above

Is that happening with the Flash 10 beta ? With Flash 9.0 r124, it works fine here, with and without Flashblock active. With Flash 10 beta, I had seen that issue indeed (I had to uninstall that one, too many sites don't recognise it). See bug 434914 comment 13. This is fixed in RC2.

Supriya, please confirm that this really is fixed in Firefox 3 RC 2. I have my doubts. You can download a copy of the current Firefox 3 nightly (which should be equivalent to RC 2) at: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla1.9.0/firefox-3.0pre.en-US.mac.dmg
I can still reproduce this in the nightly build posted (as linked above.)

Thanks, Luke. Now please respond to philippe's questions from comment #2 :-)
i guess its more a dupe of Bug 78414
On the face of it, this seems like a mouse bug, not a keyboard bug (and therefore not a dup of bug 78414). But I need to look into it further to be sure.
Strange. I still see the bug in 6/2/2008 RC2-nightly with Flash Player 10 Beta, but it behaves correctly with Flash Player 9r124.
So ... what happens using the Flash Player 10 Beta with Firefox 2 (or with Safari)? And if the Flash Player 10 Beta is also available on other platforms (like Windows and Linux), what happens there?
> So ... what happens using the Flash Player 10 Beta with Firefox 2 > (or with Safari)? Actually, this seems to have already been answered by the following from comment #0: > The issue is that the YouTube flash app is receiving events from > (0-374) in the Y dimension in FireFox 3RC, but is receiving events > from (0-394) in the Y dimension in FireFox 2 PR & Safari > 3.1.1(5525.18).
I'm already working on an event-tracing plugin for bug 357670. Sounds like it will also be needed here.

Summary: flash player controls on youtube not working on Firefox 3 → flash player controls on youtube not working on Firefox 3 (with Flash Player 10 Beta)
This now works correctly with Flash 10 b2 (Shockwave Flash 10.0 d536, released: 20080707). Did you guys fixed it inside the plugin ?
Yes -- we ascertained this to be a plugin bug, and that was fixed in the Flash Player beta-refresh-release. This can be verified and closed, as appropriate, against the newly release Flash Player plugin beta. Thanks for following up on this, Philippe.
(In reply to comment #15) Thanks for the feedback ! Resolving this as WorksForMe, then.
