User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; OpenBSD i386; de-DE; rv:1.8.1.12) Gecko/20080310 Firefox/2.0.0.12 Build Identifier: unknown (Firefox 3 doesn't start) Debian stable is not only used as a server system, many people use it as a stable Desktop System for daily work. Firefox 3 needs gtk 2.10 on Linux. Debian stable (Etch) ships with gtk 2.8. Firefox 3 cant't be used on Debian Etch. I think this is a bug, because Debian stable is a supported not outdated Linux-Distribution. Windows 2000 is older than Debian Etch and is supported from Firefox 3. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use Debian Etch 2. Try to use Firefox 3 Actual Results: Error Message: This application needs gtk 2.10, you have 2.8 installed! Expected Results: Firefox 3 should run on all actual used (not from the vendor outdated) Linux Distributions.
Windows 2000 is also a much bigger chunk of users, and close enough to Windows XP that the differential cost is quite minimal. GTK 2.10 was needed for a number of reasons, so we're not going to change this. Whether a third party supports a configuration or not does not force us to support it as well. This is probably a dupe, but I'm just going to wontfix it.
