Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
The bulk operations within the Places Organizer are slow. In particular, when performing operating involving insertion or removal of ~5000 bookmarks (either bulk delete, import or restoring a backup), the browser is unresponsive for at least 20 seconds.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a set of ~5000 bookmarks, preferably with some stored within a folder tree. With my current bookmark layout, about 25% appear to be within a folder or sub-folder.
2. Create a backup of said bookmarks for safety purposes.
3. Delete and restore the bookmarks, all at once.
Actual Results:
During step 3, Mozilla enters 100% CPU when processing all these bookmarks. On some systems, this causes other applications to respond slowly.
Expected Results:
Firefox shouldn't require this amount of time for processing large quantities of bookmarks.
This issue appeared before when transitioning from one bookmark system to another - bulk activity was initially slow when some users were moving bookmarks from one computer to another.

After checking bug 428459 and bug 432706, it does share a bit of scope. While this report includes restoring these bookmarks (the other two bugs cover deletion), I suspect it may be fixed in the same patch for either of those bugs.
I'm not sure if it should be marked as a dupe though.
