Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5
The browsing history stored for the down arrow to the right of the address cannot be cleared and is not cleared when clearing private data. The information of past web sites visited remains even though you clear private data, check all options under settings for clearing private data, and even when you select to clear private data on exit. This is true for both Firefox 3 beta 5 and the newly released Firefox 3.0.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to tools, options, privacy tab, settings and select to clear all privacy items when asking to clear private data
2.Clear private data.
3.Left click on the down arrow to the right of the address in the address bar.
Actual Results:
Past web sites visited are displayed.
Expected Results:
No sites displayed. History should have been cleared when clearing private data.
I reported this bug about a month ago for 3.0 beta 5.0 and I cannot find the report listed. The bug now shows up in the newly released 3.0 version that I just downloaded.

Not sure which bug you reported, but there is bug 424329 for example...
probably a dupe of bug 423507

Problem is address bar retains history. Just confirmed on latest 3. release. Go to right of address bar and click history button. All history of past visited web sites appears even though privacy settings show to always clear all history on exit of Firefox. Note not bookmarks.

If you're confident these are not bookmarks (outline star outline rather than solid star) then your "places database" has been corrupted which is what bug 423507 is about. We've found and fixed some causes of this, and if your database was originally from our beta version you might be suffering from one of these bugs. The only way to fix that is to delete the database and have it rebuilt. That could be a problem if there's data in there you need, but if you're trying to delete your history anyway that's probably something you can do.
Bookmarks also live in the places database, so you'll want to save them first, delete the files, then restart Firefox and import your saved bookmarks. Details at http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Bookmarks+Not+Saved#Places_database_file
Delete of Address bar entries in MAC version 3.0.x does not work. i.e. COMMAND SHIFT DEL. Has anybody fixed this in latest releast 3.5 ?

I was unable to reproduce this issue on:
- Windows Vista x32 using Fx 3.0b5: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
- Windows Vista x32 using Fx 3.0: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0b5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
- Windows 7 x64 using Fx 3.0: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0
- Windows 7 x64 using Fx 3.0b5: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5
- Windows 7 x64 using latest Aurora (BuildID: 20131203004003): Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0
- Windows 7 x64 using latest Nightly (BuildID: 20131203030202): Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0
This issue was either fixed along with Bug 423507 (as previously mentioned by Josh) or it was isolated to G. Mingle's configuration.
