User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-GB; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008061004 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-GB; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008061004 Firefox/3.0 When I copy and paste to Word from Firefox 3.0, all formatting is lost (text doesn't become Bold, colour is lost, font is lost, tables are lost) - it becomes just straight text, which is anoying. It was a problem with Beta 5 and all the RC versions of Firefox too. Safari works fine, so I need to switch to Safari when I need to copy and paste. Someone tested for me on Windows, and it copy and pastes fine from Firefox Windows to Word Windows. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open any webpage 2. Highlight any text 3. Copy the text (Command + C) 4. Paste the text into Word (Command + V) Actual Results: The text is pasted with no formatting at all. Text doesn't become Bold, colour is lost, font is lost, tables are lost etc. Expected Results: The text should have been pasted with all its formatting (so some text bold, some text in a different colour, the text in tables, URLS come across underlined and blue with a hyperlink etc) This problem has been confirmed by people on Macrumors.com forum (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=5671321) The only work-around is to use Safari instead of Firefox :-S
This appears to be a duplicate of 418606. Also, I'm one more person affected by this. I've tried copying from Firefox 3 and pasting into Thunderbird, Word, and TextEdit. All formatting is lost in all cases. Additionally, I can no longer paste formatted text from other applications into Thunderbird. All other applications are unaffected. I've tried running Firefox in safe mode, and from another test account that has no extensions. I even tried deleting not only the Firefox application but all support files from my and the system Library folders and then reinstalling Firefox. I tested it again before reinstalling my extensions, and confirmed that it is broken with a purely default installation.
The report at bug 418606 is inaccurate -- this problem effects both FF2 and FF3. Furthermore a patch is being worked on at bug 428096. So duping there.
