Perhaps you've stored those sites as bookmarks?
In that case, you'll still see them in the address bar.
Otherwise, do you have extensions installed? Which ones?

Access keyword?
We've seen scattered reports of this, it's often bookmarked sites which are also searched by the autocomplete. Bookmarked entries should have a star on the right side.
We've also seen earlier problems with corrupted files (I had this happen myself) for people who migrated through several earlier beta releases. In those cases it turned out to be formerly bookmarked pages stuck in the database, but not given a star. There wasn't much I could do in that case except export my bookmarks, delete the database, and reimport them. You'll probably want help from tech support on that, start at http://support.mozilla.com and you'll find links to forums and live chat.
I'm going to unhide this bug since the same issue has been reported -- it's either "worksforme" or perhaps something like that corruption issue which can't be used as an exploit against people. Un-hiding the bug will let more people see what's going on in case they've run into something similar.
To summarize:
1) see if the entries have stars (bookmarks, no bug)
2) if unstarred, see if you can reproduce in a new profile
(may need help with profiles). If you can NOT it's a profile
problem -- we may then need a copy of your corrupted file
to figure out what's going on (again, get help from tech support)
3) or simply delete the places.sqlite file if you really want everything (including bookmarks) gone, and let us know if the problem comes back after that.

It would just great to have an option for selecting whether the visited bookmarks in the address bar history should be gone after clearing the private data or not.
Sometimes it just comes in handy to have everything blank. I think deleting that file: places.sqlite is not an option for everyday usage.

Hi there, I'm running V3.01 on multiple computers, and I get the symptoms on all of them.
Daniel Veditz's queries got me investigating. The pages I have in my address bar history are NOT bookmarked, however I do have a single page from the site bookmarked. Now many pages I have visited are saved, even if I have not typed it into the address bar myself, just clicked, it seems.
It is also not profile based, since I'm getting it on multiple accounts.
Just thought I'd add input.

Hi, have upgraded to v3.01 too, and think it would be more interesting to keep last security options active, i.e., when you clear your personal data (usually when closing the browser) the history should go too, and not be kept, for all privacy reasons whatsoever.
Keeping those under the starred "bookmark" excuse, as they are already there where they belong, it's double counting for nothing...
And curiously, the addresses that I cannot delete now (if you know how to, please advise) are all very old ones, some used 2 to 3 years ago.
Waiting for the (re)improvements to this function.
I can't re-produce this bug. The steps I took were as follows:
Check address bar - indeed showing personal history items like my gmail urls.
Bookmarks - Organize Bookmarks.
Deleted all history.
Checked address bar and personal history items are missing. Only bookmarked urls remain.
Started typing gmail urls and none were offered as a match.
I am using Windows XP SP2
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
I upgraded from version 2 but uninstalled everything before installing version 3.

1. Firefox - History löschen
It's not from me, but it helps:
I read this somewhere when I googled for the problem.
1. Firefox - History löschen
in Firefox you need to enter in the URL-line
about:config
and then scroll down to:
browser.
urlbar.maxRichResults
and change the default. The default setting is 12 and if you want nothing, you enter 0.

Thanks Bernhard, your discovery solved perfectly my issue. Well done.

I would like to thank you me too, but can't find anything: where config, in application data ? URL line ? Are we talking about the same 3.0.3 version ?
