This enhancement would really be welcome. When my mailbox becomes too big, what I often do is a search on messages which are old AND have big attachments. I then manually delete the attachments, which I have to do by hand. By the way, there is an extension which roughly does this : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/556 However, I don't think an extension should be needed only so that an action can be performed on a multiple selection instead on a single one...
