The new Print dialog is actually quite nice. I like the way "Print to File" is a proper peer of other printers. It took me a second to figure out how to print in another directory, but now I'm just used to clicking "Other" every time.
However, there is no way to select a pre-existing file. When I'm printing something I often print (eg, a monthly statement), I want to give it the same name as last time, but with a different date. I don't want 35 slightly-different names.
In Firefox 2, I'd just select last month's file, then change the date. Easy! In Firefox 3, I have to open up a shell and ls(1) the directory, or I have to open up a file browser from the desktop and navigate there so I can copy the name. Either way, why should I have to leave Firefox?
The solution is not complicated. FF3 could provide a pop-out to a real file selector, or it could even just do tab completion. Whatever. The code is certainly in FF already :-)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. File->Print
2. Select "Print to File"
3. Try to select a pre-existing filename, but you can't because it's a plain entry.

Perfect. Really a nice feature lost moving from FF2 to FF3.

I'd like to see this and 454003 (almost the same thing) fixed. It's my #1 peeve with Firefox - and FF is my browser of choice.
