User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 There should be an option (which I would definitely check) which makes the browser exit after you close the last remaining tab (with ctrl-w for instance) Now the browser just stays open. It would be so handy for me when ever I want to stop browsing, just keep typing Ctrl-W as long as all the tabs are closed and browser quits. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Press ctrl+w until nothing happens no more Actual Results: Empty tab remained and could not get rid of it no matter how long I press crtl+W Expected Results: Browser should quit after the last tab OR there should be an option to enable it in the tab preferences. This may seem as a double report but i could not find any mention on that this should be as a check box in the options, so to me that part should be new.
Actually, the checkbox is there, it's just not obviously labeled: "Always show the tab bar" - disable this and you'll be fine.

In the version of FF I just downloaded : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; fr; rv:1.9.1b3) Gecko/20090305 Firefox/3.1b3 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) this feature is still lacking and I have to go to about:config > browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab and to set it to false in order to recover the previous behavior of FF 3.0.7 It's too tricky for most of the people just to recover their habits with tabs closing. A checkbox in Options > Tabs would be very useful... and why not setting it on "Do not close the windows when last tab is closed" by default ?
+1. Still present on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1b3) Gecko/20090305 Firefox/3.1b3 GTB5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
