Start thunderbird before your network manager has managed to get the connection on line ; thunderbird punishes the user with a useless ("OK") popup dialog box.

There's no need for this. You can show the status in a number of ways. At any rate there should be a way to turn this annoying behavior off for users like me with a low tolerance threshold for this sort of thing. Thanks.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Turn off the network.
2. Start thunderbird, see the dialog box.
3. Get annoyed at useless dialog box.
4. File a bug or dupe this one.
Actual Results:
popup box. Again and again, every time you try to start without a network.

Expected Results:
Nicer cleaner interface. Maybe a status icon, or some other way to show the state of things.
Thunderbird can check on every platform except Linux the connection status and switches to offline mode but there is no right way on linux to do this.
