It would be nice to migrate the dependson/blocks fields to use the new custom Bug ID fields. This would also handle the full intent of "related bug" feature requested in Bug 12286.
All you really need here is Bug ID fields that can contain multiple bug IDs, since Bug ID fields already support one-way relationships. I think we already have a bug for this somewhere?

Iow, this bug here is very much needed to finally have "related bugs" (just like we now have "depends on" and "blocks"), as has been requested since 1999 with 55 votes so far.
